Example of Howard's empty container.

Whilst I, (Hilda), was in Holland, on the third day of a cruise to the Floriade, we visited Keukenhof, dubbed  "The most beautiful Spring Garden in the World". It certainly lived up to the description!  It was here I saw a perfect example of Howard's use of empty containers. (see previous post).

Below are my two most favourite tulips, called "Cummins" and "Brest": Both had lovely fringed petals.

There were many, equally lovely ones, but I am going to order some of these. They will bring back a lot of very pleasant memories. The bulbs are not allowed to flower for long, as the heads are cut off so the goodness goes back into the bulb. I would hate that job!
